NIBONG TEBAL - The Education Ministry will continue to implement the Palestinian Solidarity Week, starting from Oct 29 to Nov 3.

Its minister, Fadhlina Sidek, said that the Palestinian Solidarity campaign in schools was encouraged and is seen as important for instilling positive values among students.

However, she stressed that the Ministry does not compromise on elements of extremism, violence, and mock weapons which are strictly prohibited.

"We urge all parties within the education institutions to pay full attention to the guidelines we have issued.

"That's why we are holding the Palestinian Solidarity campaign for a limited period from October 29 to November 3 so that we can monitor and control it. Any school that violates these guidelines will face appropriate action," she said when speaking to reporters on Saturday.

Earlier, Fadhlina who is also the Nibong Tebal Member of Parliament, attended the Amanita Taman Pekaka Seberang Perai Selatan Adoption Park launching ceremony at SMK Saujana Indah, here, today.

Also present was Penang Police Chief, Datuk Khaw Kok Chin.

On Friday, a 55-second video circulated on the X and TikTok applications, showing a man holding a replica rifle during a Palestinian Solidarity programme at a school.

Commenting on this, Fadhlina said the matter is still under investigation, and they are awaiting a report from the State Education Department for further action.

"We have instructed a thorough and comprehensive investigation, and there must be a report before any action is taken.

The organisation of the Palestinian Solidarity campaign must adhere to the guidelines we have provided, ensuring that the activities take place in a harmonious atmosphere and promote themes of humanity, peace, and global security," she added.
