SHAH ALAM - The Gaza Strip faces the risk of division if Israel succeeds in seizing control of a portion of the area following the Zionist army's attack on al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Wednesday.

Professor Dr. Mohd Roslan Mohd Nor, Head of the Department of Islamic History and Civilization at the University of Malaya (UM), emphasised that the current events in Gaza clearly revealed the Israeli movement's intention to destroy the Gaza Strip and expel its residents.

He said that the numerous strikes were being carried out because Israel undoubtedly aims to take over the entirety of Gaza.

"Yes, there is a risk that Gaza will be divided into two. However, we urge the international community, particularly Islamic nations and individuals or communities in Western countries, to exert pressure on Israel.

"We do not want Gaza to be separated, divided, or completely controlled by Israel because we recognize that Gaza does not belong to Israel," he told Sinar Harian.

Political science expert Dr. Chandra Muzaffar added that while it was possible for Gaza to be divided, it was not a significant concern because Israel's ultimate goal was complete control.

He added that Israel employs various tactics to displace Palestinians from Gaza's northern and southern regions.

"Their strategy for controlling Gaza involves expelling the population first from the north and then from the south, ultimately pushing them towards Egypt.

"Although Israel is aware that Gaza is not their territory, they use military strength and alliances to control the area, a situation that has persisted since the Balfour Agreement in 1917," he added.
