Wan Ahmad Fayhsal describes Syed Saddiq as 'brave iron' amid conviction
SHAH ALAM - Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) President Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has been described as a 'brave iron' by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Armada Youth Chief Wan Ahmad Fayshal Wan Ahmad Kamal.
He also expressed sympathy towards the Muar MP following the latter's conviction for abetting in criminal breach of trust (CBT), misappropriation of funds and money laundering.
"He (Syed Saddiq) is someone special, he is a friend. I sincerely hope he has patience in this challenging time.
"He's brave iron and someone special... But that's the politics and (he) couldn't see the traps, I pray for Allah for him during this tough time with the trial.
"I cannot comment extensively on the justice system, but we trust in the court and the law and the judgments consider all arguments and evidence," he told to Sinar Daily after the Bersatu General Assembly 2023 held here today.
He also acknowledged the inherent challenges of politics, emphasising the need for caution to navigate potential pitfalls.
On Nov 9, The High Court sentenced Syed Saddiq to seven years jail, RM10 million fine and two strokes of the cane after finding him guilty of abetting in CBT, misappropriation of funds and money laundering involving Armada's funds.
Prior to establishing Muda, Syed Saddiq was one of the founding members of Bersatu together with its former chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. He left Bersatu during the political crisis, now dubbed the Sheraton Move in 2020, after disagreeing with Bersatu's move to exit Pakatan Harapan and form a new government with Umno and Pas, known as the Muafakat Nasional.
