PUTRAJAYA - PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli points to Pas as a cautionary tale of an idealistic party that, despite boasting a substantial following, consistently grapples with electoral setbacks.

The reminder was voiced at today’s PKR Youth and Women wings’ annual congress, where Rafizi underscored how idealism and strength in numbers alone will get PKR nowhere.

“Since 1951, the party has been clearly grounded in Islamic idealism. The support is indeed substantial, that's true; that's why Pas can fill an entire stadium.

“But we spent a long time with Pas, two days before the election, 100,000 people attended [hustings]. Enters the election, and we lost," said Rafizi in his officiation speech of the wings’ congress.

He added that apart from idealism, the party needed to be complemented with organisational strength and leadership talent.

“This is to ensure that our party’s idealism can be translated to bring about effective change to the people.

“Having good idealism can allow us to gather numbers but without organisational strength and talent, we won’t get far,” Rafizi claimed.

PKR's 17th Annual Congress is slated to begin later in the evening today and will end tomorrow. It is held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, here.
