Asyraf Wajdi guarantees no Umno MP will support PNFARAH SHAZWANI ALI NURFARDLINA IZZATI MOKTAR
KEMAMAN – Umno assures that none of its Member of Parliaments will support Perikatan Nasional (PN) to form the government.
Its Secretary-General Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the talk about forming the government was impossible to be done because they were bound by an agreement.
"This Kemaman by-election is not about changing the government. Three days ago, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said that Kemaman is important for them to start changing the government.
"This is either a delusion or a dream. Every time he speaks, one jumps (show support to the Prime Minister). Today, there are 153 members of Parliament who support the unity government, PN has 69.
"How do you want to form a government? It needs to be 112 people. (There are) 69, where else are you going to find (people to support)?
“They said they are persuading our MPs. As Umno Secretary- General, I assure you that no one will budge. No one, " he said.
He said this during his speech at Kemaman by-election Ceramah Mega Perpaduan Madani in Geliga on Wednesday night.
Asyraf said that every MP had an agreement that whoever disobeyed the party's decision would voluntarily give up their membership in Umno and BN.
"What is the effect? The effect is the Anti-Hopping Act. When they leave the party, they have to vacate the parliamentary seat.
"Secondly, they also signed an agreement, everyone has to pay a bond of RM100 million if they disobey the party's decision," he said.
Hadi on Nov 22, admitted that PN is still trying to attract the support of Umno leaders who were against the party's cooperation in the unity government to join them.
In fact, he said, the nomination of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar in the Kemaman Parliament was part of their preparations to take over the administration of the government.
