IN a strategic move showcasing unwavering support, Pas Selangor has meticulously organised its entire machinery to be in Kemaman for the past two weeks to campaign for Terengganu Menteri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar for the by-election.

Expressing the party’s full confidence in Samsuri - popularly referred to as Dr Sam, the party’s Selangor liaison secretary Zaidy Abdul Talib said they were certain he would be able to secure a resounding victory.

He highlighted Samsuri’s exceptional track and effectiveness in governing Terengganu, making the latter the perfect candidate for the Parliamentary seat.

If he were to win, he said Malaysian citizens will finally have a reliable technocrat leader.

“With a track record that speaks volumes, the party believes that Samsuri possesses the capabilities to not only secure victory in Kemaman but also to articulate insightful views and ideas at the national level,” he told Sinar Daily.

Many observers have speculated that this was a move to fast track Samsuri’s career into premiership as Perikatan Nasional and Pas consider the next generation of leaders.

"The decision to rally behind the Terengganu Menteri Besar for the Kemaman seat is a testament to our full confidence in his leadership abilities.

"We believe that his exemplary track record in Terengganu reflects the kind of effective leadership that is needed on a broader national stage,” he said.

When asked if Dr Sam would be considering the Prime Ministership, he said it was not merely about the the parliamentary or premiership aspirations but to recognise and fully utilisie his leadership skills for the benefit of the nation.

Zaidy emphasised that the decision aligns with the party's vision of endorsing leaders who have demonstrated excellence in governance.

"At this crucial juncture, our focus is not on discussing the role of the Prime Minister but on showcasing our unwavering confidence to Dr Sam.

"We believe that his leadership can bring about positive change not only in Kemaman but also at the national level," he said.

Zaidy also said the current Opposition, namel Pas, was not focused on politicking but to fight for the people’ struggle especially came when it comes to economy and cost of living.

Voters in Kemaman will be voting tomorrow.
