SHAH ALAM - Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali has been appointed as the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister.

The announcement was made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during a special press conference in Putrajaya today.

This role, now officially entrusted to him, was initially taken up in an interim capacity following the tragic and untimely demise of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub in July.

Salahuddin, whose tenure was marked by significant contributions, had passed away due to complications arising from a brain haemorrhage, leaving a notable void in the ministry.

Reflecting on this appointment, it's important to note that Anwar had hinted at having a suitable candidate in mind for this important ministerial position as early as November.

Before this appointment, Armizan was serving in a dual capacity.

He held the minister's office in the Prime Minister's Department, handling affairs related to Sabah, Sarawak and Special Functions.

Additionally, since July 30, he had been overseeing the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
