SEREMBAN – Teen national billiards sports star dies in an accident after the car he was traveling in with four family members was involved in an accident on the Kajang-Seremban Highway (Lekas) near the Ampangan exit here on Wednesday.

Seremban District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Arifai Tarawe said in the 2.50am incident. the car Afiq Saiful Bahari was in, lost control and ended up in a drain.

"Preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred when a Honda City car driven by a 21-year-old man was traveling with four passengers from the direction of Senawang towards Ampangan, Seremban.

"After arriving at the scene of the incident, the car lost control and crashed into a drain," he said in a statement on Thursday.

He said the 13-year-old victim died at the scene. He added that four others, which were two adult men, an adult woman and a teenage boy were injured and were sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital (HTJ) for further treatment.

"Anyone who has information about this incident can contact the investigating officer of the case, Inspector Sudesh Kumar on 0164830853 or you can go directly to any nearby police station to help with the investigation.

“The case is being investigated according to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and further investigations are still ongoing," he said.

Afiq had been involved in billiards since he was eight years old.
