Govt can seize PN-administered states if there’s no 'cah keting' – Mohamad Sabu

KLANG - The unity government is capable of recapturing the four states administered by Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the upcoming election if all coalition parties unite and do not adopt the 'cah keting' culture.

Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said that the unhealthy culture of fractional politics needed to be rejected by all parties in the current government to ensure that efforts to maintain the administration would be carried out.

"With the close cooperation of us (all) in the unity party (I am confident) we will be able to seize back the four states (administered) by PN (but on) the condition that unity is maintained.

"We help each other, not ‘cah keting’. This is our hope (because from there) unity will be born," he said when delivering the Presidential Address in conjunction with the 2023 Amanah National Convention at a hotel here on Saturday.

Mohamad, who is also the Kota Raja Member of Parliament also reiterated his belief that the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would be able to maintain the government after the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16).

"We need to support and defend (the unity government) not only for this 15th Parliament but we need to maintain the integrity and continuity of the government to continue its administration in the 16th session later, InsyaAllah," he said.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Sabu insisted that Amanah sought for coalition partners with compatibility and shared objectives for winning the election, rather than forming alliances out of necessity.

He said a government without compatibility and common aspirations would struggle to survive and become fragile.

"Some may say that it is difficult to measure the strength of our party objectively because Amanah contested the election as a coalition partner in Pakatan Harapan (PH).

"Indeed, many people do not know that that is the measure of Amanah's strength, namely the strength of its strategy and political approach that advocates coalition politics as the basis of strength to win the election," he said.
