KLANG - Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) emphasised the need for delegates to prioritise the party's and the country's interests over personal ambitions.

Its communications director Khalid Abdul Samad expressed disappointment with certain members who openly criticised internal party matters in the media, tarnishing the party's image.

He said unity within Amanah could be achieved by focusing on the party's main goals rather than using it as a platform for personal careers.

"Unity is simple if our hearts are clean and we value the party and the country more than we value our own ambitions or groups.

"I'm disappointed when there are objections, but (they) take it to the media. If you take it to the media, it means you don't care about the bad and negative effects on the party," he said while speaking at the second day of Amanah 2023 National Convention.

On Dec 5, it was reported that an Amanah leader did not deny that there was a certain group organised a movement to replace the existing leadership with a new leader in the upcoming party elections.

However, Amanah vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa on Dec 5 denied that there had been a split in the party following rumours of a change in leadership.

He added that the issue of internal division did not arise following the position of the five highest positions, including the president, would be determined by consensus among the 27 highest leaders to be elected by representatives nationwide.
