SHAH ALAM - Pas Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has criticised Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, claiming that the latter has continuously interfered in matters related to Islamic religious affairs.

Fadhli who is Pasir Mas MP said it was not impossible that the Beruas MP might use this as an excuse to make requests for other matters related to the Islamic law.

"Today he (Ngeh) asked to appoint non-Muslim experts into the special committee to study issues related to the competencies of state legislative assembly in enacting Islamic laws.

“After this, he might ask for a non-Muslim expert to be appointed to the Fatwa Council as well.

"It's not impossible that for the sighting of the new moon (for the commencement of Ramadan for Muslims), there would be an expert among them as well.

“They throw in a statement first and observe the reaction and over time it will be normalised," he said in a post on Facebook, today.

He was commenting on Ngeh's suggestion that the government should involve non-Muslim constitutional experts in the special committee and also explained that the move aimed to take into account the views of non-Muslims before any changes to the laws were made.

Fadhli sarcastically stated that the secretary-general of another party quickly denied Ngeh’s statement, claiming that it did not represent the stance of the person in question.
