SHAH ALAM - Former MCA vice president Datuk Ti Lian Ker has sarcastically said that "MCA is in a state of loss" but DAP is more confusing.

He also said DAP has embraced Umno and taken over the role of MCA, thus the confusion.

"But MCA never insults, mocks or humiliates the opposing party and remains loyal to its comrades in good and bad times.

"MCA also never fish in troubled waters or only seeks friends and opponents according to political desire and convenience," he said in a statement yesterday.

Kok previously claimed that MCA was a bit ‘lost’ when answering questions about the relationship between DAP and MCA in the unity government.

Kok’s statement was made in an interview published by the local media.

Ti said this was the difference between MCA which went astray to uphold the truth and DAP which misleads to find strength.

"The difference between MCA and DAP is that MCA is seen and accepted as a moderate party and MCA's approach and political journey is based on moderation.

"MCA has never chanted political rhetoric to abolish the rights of Bumiputera enshrined in Article 153 of the Federal Constitution or efforts in that direction.

"Today, MCA has to cooperate with DAP and it is well known that MCA's traditional voters all this time consist of a large number of Malay voters who support MCA's struggle as a non-radical party.

He said that MCA was seen to lose Malay votes, which were currently leaning towards Pas, due to the discomfort of Malay voters, including Umno members with DAP, towards this unity government coalition.

"Therefore, MCA is seen to lose the Malay vote which is currently leaning towards Pas due to the discomfort of Malay voters including Umno members with DAP towards this unity government coalition.

He said that in other situations, DAP still did not recognise the sacrifices of MCA in order to consolidate this unity government together with their determination to remain in the contest in all the constituencies they won in the last GE15, without taking into account the sacrifices of each party that made this unity government a reality.

"On the other hand, DAP chose to continue mocking MCA as a party with two parliamentary seats because of the support of the majority of Malay voters," he said.

Ti said that the political reality had forced MCA to accept cooperation with Umno in the name of the Parti Perikatan despite being accused by Chinese chauvinists at the time that MCA had pawned the right to equality with the cooperation of MCA and Umno.

"Political realities also forced MCA to cooperate with Gerakan and other opposition parties in 1969 in order to ease the racial political tension in 1969.

"Political realities also forced MCA to support the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the last GE15 in order to stabilise the country's politics which was in turmoil due to political accusations and political provocations from the DAP party in particular.

"However, MCA remains clear and rational in supporting the unity government because that is the tone, soul, and struggle of MCA all this time.

He added that now the MCA leadership once again had to accept the political fact that DAP had seized MCA's role in the government and that DAP had also started following MCA's script and political approach all this time.

"DAP, which terrorised non-Malay voters against greed for power, Umno’s political supremacy has now made a U-turn by embracing and bowing to Umno's struggle.

"The difference is that Malay voters are still suspicious and wary of the existence and political power of DAP which is dominant in the unity government," he said.
