SHAH ALAM - Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad remains under observation at the National Heart Institute (IJN) as he recovers from an unspecified infection.

This information was confirmed through an Instagram story post attributed to his account administrator. The post states that Dr Mahathir has been undergoing treatment since Jan 26 and was currently recovering.

"Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is currently still being treated in the National Heart Institute (IJN) since January 26, 2024, and is in the process of recovering from infection," the post reads today.

The administrator also shared a photograph of him engaged in activities such as reading today's newspaper and taking notes during his hospital stay.

Dr Mahathir was admitted to the IJN on Jan 26 for treatment with internal staff stating that a specific timeline for his discharge remains undetermined, as it depends on the assessment of his progress by medical professionals at the institute.

Updates on Dr Mahathir's health were also shared through other social media platforms, including X and his Facebook account.
