ALOR SETAR - Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor criticises the statement made by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil who urged him to remain silent rather than comment on the Kuala Kubu Bharu State Legislative Assembly by-election.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director said Fahmi, who is also the spokesperson for the unity government, should not have issued such a statement directing him to 'shut up', especially when the Kuala Kubu Bharu by-election campaign is about to begin.

"Why did the ‘gol dan gincu’ minister say that? Stay silent when competing in elections? If accusing someone of having a RM7 million house, turns out the accusation is not true, then can keep quiet silently... that too if there is any sense of shame," said Sanusi in a statement posted on his Facebook on Wednesday.

Sanusi is believed to have made the remarks in response to Fahmi's statement on Tuesday, asking him to keep quiet and refrain from commenting on issues in other states, but rather focus on Kedah state.

Fahmi said this when commenting on Sanusi's earlier statement alleging that PN would 'further break' the rift between MCA and Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Sanusi was quoted as saying that MCA's decision not to participate in any campaign activities in the Kuala Kubu Baharu State Legislative Assembly would give an advantage to the PN coalition to win the by-election.

"Their (relationship) is already cracked, we (PN) will break it further apart. That is political work," said Sanusi.

Instead, Fahmi responded to the statement by asking the Jeneri assemblyman to focus on completing various projects announced in Kedah, including the Widad Group's sea reclamation project in Langkawi and the racecourse project in Sungai Petani.
