SHAH ALAM – Chaos ensued during Royal Malaysian Navy Commander Muhammad Firdaus Ramli's funeral at Masjid Jamek Sungai Nibong, Penang for allegedly disrespecting the procession last night.

Two videos of the incident circulated on Facevook, which showed an angry crowd surrounding a car with a male driver and a female passenger, with the car having a shattered window.

The caption of the videos claimed that the driver had allegedly tried to drive past the road by repeatedly honking and trying to squeeze in between the crowds who were there for the funeral.

Shouts such as "Woi!" were prominently heard in the videos.

Despite the crowd's shouts of disapproval, the driver did not directly address the incident, aside from having their car windows rolled down and making hand gestures in an attempt to calm the crowd down.

Also seen were traffic police and military police who tried to take control of the situation.

Social media users were infuriated by the incident, which could be seen on the post's comments section.

Facebook user Sal Mira said, "Truly, no manners..." followed by an angry emoticon.

Meanwhile, Penang Northeast District police chief Assistant Commissioner Razlam Abdul Hamid confirmed receiving a report on the incident.

He said initial investigation revealed that the 46-year-old driver accidentally hit a motorcycle near the mosque and his car was then surrounded by the people who were there for the funeral.

The driver, who did not know about the funeral procession taking place at the area, panicked and accidentally hit the honk.

"As a result, a commotion ensued and the complainant's vehicle sustained minor damage," the police chief said in a statement.

“The situation was brought under control by police and RMN officers who were at the scene,” he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 527 for mischief.

On Tuesday, a tragic incident occurred when two RMN helicopters collided in Lumut during their third rehearsal for a flypast in conjunction with the RMN Fleet Open Day scheduled for this Saturday, resulting in the loss of ten RMN’s personnel's lives, including Firdaus.
