HULU SELANGOR - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari has declared Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) unofficial victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election, citing that the Malay voters has shown increased confidence in the Unity government.

“It has increased by three percent from 54 per cent to 57 per cent this year, in addition to the achievements of winning the polling districts in Kerling, Sungai Air Jernig, and Pertak, and Pang Sock Tao’s ability to secure over 3,000 votes,” Amiruddin told a press conference at PH operations centre here today.

He stressed that if the victory and votes represent the voice of the people, then they have received the endorsement to continue their work.

Amiruddin also expressed gratitude to all parties involved, including those from Barisan Nasional, Umno, and non-governmental organisations, for their efforts in ensuring Pang's victory.

“My hope is also that the late incumbent Lee Kee Hong's good efforts can be continued,” he said.

Pang also shared a few words, expressing her commitment to addressing the concerns of KKB residents.

She cited her plans to move to the area soon and work as a team to solve these issues.

“This victory is for all the people of KKB, and I want to express my gratitude for the unwavering support from my husband and my beloved family.

"I must also mention the late Kee Hiong’s husband, who has also supported me in reaching this point today,” she added.

She assured everyone’s problems would be addressed without considering religion, ethnicity, or political background.

According to unofficial results as at 8.07pm, Pang has garnered 12,860 votes, ahead of Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut who has obtained 9,391 votes so far.

Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin trail far behind with 178 and 143 votes, respectively.

PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was at PKR’s 25th anniversary event, congratulated Pang for Pang's success.

He also thanked DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook for his party’s efforts towards ensuring a PH victory.
