SHAH ALAM - Sexual grooming is done by adults in order to build an emotional connection with children to gain confidence in the continuation of such abominable activities.

Lawyer Wan Azliana Wan Adnan said it was intended to commit abuse or sexual exploitation of them.

"Do not say these kids are wild because they do not understand from the start. For instance, the father said such acts to show affection. So, they are going to follow the ‘orders’.

"It is not just between father or mother and child, it can involve grandparents and grandchildren or teachers and students as well," she said.

In addition, Azliana added that the victims will share this information with the closest people like their mothers or brothers and sisters, even the teachers will become a place of expression.

As a matter of fact, educators must report the matter to the authorities as soon as they find out what the students have revealed.

"If they have entered primary or secondary school, then they will choose to tell their friends or teachers if the crime happened at home," she said.

Azliana also insisted that the parties involved should be charged if they helped the perpetrators in the act even if not in person.

She said the punishment should be imposed on both of them if someone was directly involved in physical sexual assault.
