Thrilled by the enthusiastic welcome, Suzuki Konomi and Kihow, making their third and second visits to Malaysia respectively, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Malaysian fans for their unwavering support.

JAPANESE anime has taken root in Malaysia, fostering a vibrant community of fans who not only revel in the animated characters, fashion and intricate storylines but also embrace the evocative music that serves as iconic soundtracks to their favourite anime shows.
Hence, the opportunity to witness the performances of two legendary Japanese anime artists Suzuki Konomi and Kihow of pop-rock band Myth & Roid - renowned for their iconic anime theme songs - was eagerly seized by their fan community here.
Suzuki Konomi and Kihow, known for their contribution to the popular anime TV series Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World, captivated the crowd with their high-energy performances during their live show recently on Dec 22 in Kuala Lumpur.
Thrilled by the enthusiastic welcome, Suzuki Konomi and Kihow, making their third and second visits to Malaysia respectively, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Malaysian fans for their unwavering support.
In reminiscing about her first trip to Malaysia in 2022, Osaka-born Suzuki Konomi said the warm response from Malaysian fans, despite the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions then, was unprecedented and made her fall in love with Malaysia.
"Although social distancing and (other) restrictions were imposed at that time, the crowd cheered loudly, something that was not evident in Japan for the longest time since the start of the pandemic,” she told a media conference just before the recent concert here.
The concert was held in conjunction with Comic Fiesta 2024 on Dec 21 and 22, one of the largest anime, comics and games events co-organised by The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur; Comic Fiesta executive committee; and the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia.
Suzuki Konomi said her past performances in Malaysia had left a very deep impression on her.
For 2025, the acclaimed singer, who won the 5th All-Japan Anime Song Grand Prix Final in 2011, is gearing up for a global series of concerts, having triumphed over the vocal cord struggles she faced during the second season of Re:Zero in 2020.
As for Kihow, the vocalist of Myth & Roid, her first concert in Malaysia was in 2018 and she recalls it as "nothing short of extraordinary”, with the crowd singing so passionately that the music itself was nearly drowned out by their voices.
"Thanks, Malaysia for giving me that experience and encouragement to push forward,” said Kihow, whose band Myth & Roid is known for performing theme songs for several hit anime productions and amassing over 150 million views for their music videos and content. - BERNAMA
