SHAH ALAM - Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has confirmed that a helicopter crashed while attempting to land to refuel near one of its project sites in Bentong, Pahang.

In a statement, TNB said that the tragic incident claimed the life of a helicopter company worker, an Indonesian national, while the pilot was successfully rescued.

Following the accident, TNB has suspended operations involving a second helicopter that was also engaged in maintenance work at the site.

The Fire and Rescue Department managed to extinguish the fire at the crash scene and TNB has pledged full cooperation with authorities in their investigation.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the victim’s family," the company stated.

Earlier reports identified the crashed aircraft as a Bell 206L4 helicopter, bearing the registration number PK-ZUV.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that the helicopter, operated by MHS Aviation Berhad, was on an aerial work flight.

The final communication from the operator was recorded at 10.18am, when the pilot informed the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Centre (KLATCC) that the aircraft was returning to the landing site.

The crash occurred at 10.26am.

Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar acknowledged the severity of the incident.

"It is understood that there are fatalities. I will issue a further statement soon," he said.
