“The screening effectively portrayed key issues and brought them to light. Before this, I wouldn’t say I was well-versed in social or political topics, and I didn’t really participate in such discussions. But this event provided the perfect setup—it encouraged me to be more vocal about rights,” she said after the screening.

Her sentiments were echoed by Ahmad Ashraf, a 35-year-old banker who found the short film particularly impactful.

“The short film by Sinar Daily sparked new discussions, especially on sensitive topics that are often overlooked. It effectively highlights the key concerns and struggles of Malaysian youth, not just in terms of integration but also economic challenges, representing a broad spectrum of young people,” he said.

Ahmad also expressed optimism about the younger generation’s growing willingness to speak up.

“I feel more hopeful seeing young people becoming more vocal. We need more open discussions, this is what Malaysia needs right now,” he added.

Organisers and participants alike expressed their excitement about the event’s success. Many stated the importance of such platforms in encouraging youth engagement and inspiring positive change.
