Police probe Chinese newspaper over Jalur Gemilang illustration mistake
The investigation was initiated following three police reports received by the police on the matter.

KUALA LUMPUR – Police will investigate a Chinese-language newspaper over an error in displaying an incomplete illustration of the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag) without the crescent moon on Tuesday.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the investigation was initiated following three police reports lodged on the matter.
“Yes, we have received police reports and have opened an investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(b) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984,” he said when contacted on Wednesday.
Earlier, the issue went viral on social media regarding the illustration of the Jalur Gemilang placed beside a Chinese flag.
The media outlet has since issued an apology for the error in displaying the flag illustration on its front page.
In a statement, the media agency explained that the missing crescent moon in the illustration was due to an unintentional technical error.
An immediate amendment was made to the digital version of the illustration and the corrected version would be published again in Wednesday’s print edition of the newspaper.
