PUTRAJAYA – Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has expressed profound gratitude to the public for their unwavering prayers and support as he faces his legal challenges.

Despite never having met many of his supporters in person, Syed Saddiq said he was deeply moved by the encouragement from Malaysians across the country especially his online supporters.

"Their solidarity transcends distance and differences. It’s a testament to the power of unity among Malaysians," he said during a press conference after the hearing of his graft appeal at the Court of Appeal, today.

He said social media platforms like TikTok, Facebook and Instagram have been flooded with well-wishes, including a dedicated Yasin recitation and prayers for justice in his case.

"I am indebted to Malaysians of all races, religions and ages, those who continue to pray for justice to prevail. Some have even taken the initiative to organise prayers at mosques without any word or request from me. This sincerity truly moved me," he said.

The former Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president stressed that his legal battle was not just a personal fight but a stand for integrity and faith in the judicial system.

"I am simply seeking justice—to clear my name and restore my integrity as someone who respects the nation’s legal institutions. This is the best path forward," he added.

Previously, the court had fixed March 19 and 20 for the hearing of the appeal.

However, after two days of submissions, proceedings were adjourned to April 17 (today) after deputy public prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin informed the court he was unable to continue due to a sore throat.

Syed Saddiq, 33, had been sentenced by the High Court to seven years in jail, two strokes of the cane and a RM10 million fine for four offences involving funds from Armada.

He was found guilty of all four charges, one charge of abetting then Armada assistant treasurer Rafiq Hakim Razali in committing criminal breach of trust by withdrawing RM 1 million of party funds, one charge of misappropriation of party funds of RM120,000 and two money laundering charges.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal has fixed April 24 as case management to fix a date to deliver its verdict on Syed Saddiq's appeal.
