Flash flood hits Sungai Buloh, 80 homes affected

The operations commander who arrived at the scene found floodwaters reaching a depth of approximately 0.9 metres, affecting 80 houses.

SUNGAI BULOH - A total of 80 houses in Kampung Paya Jaras Hilir here were affected by flash floods early this morning following heavy rainfall in two separate locations.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a team from the Bukit Jelutong fire station was dispatched to the location after receiving a distress call at about 6.31am.

"The operations commander who arrived at the scene found floodwaters reaching a depth of approximately 0.9 metres, affecting 80 houses.

"However, the water levels have started to recede and no evacuations were carried out," he said in a statement, today.

In a separate flash flood incident, another team from fire station was also dispatched to Jalan Industri 4, Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh, after receiving a distress call at 5.01am.

Mukhlis said six houses were affected by floodwaters with a depth of about 0.6 metres.

"No evacuations were carried out as residents refused to leave. The water level showed a decreasing trend," he added.
