Teen claims trial to possessing porn, doctoring lewd image of 17-year old girl using AI

KULAI – A teenager was brought before the magistrate's court here today to face charges of editing and possessing pornographic material, as well as editing an image of a 17-year-old girl using artificial intelligence (AI).
The 16-year-old boy pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before magistrate R.Salini during a closed-door proceeding.
On the first count, the accused was charged with producing sexual abuse material relating to a 17-year-old girl by editing her image into pornographic material.
He allegedly committed the offence at Taman Indahpura here at 12.40pm on April 9.
The offence under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries punishment including release with a warning, a good behaviour bond, a fine, community service, placement in an approved school, or being sent to the Henry Gurney School, if convicted.
The accused also faced a charge for possessing obscene material on his Xiaomi mobile phone.
The charge sheet stated that he was found with 14 obscene images stored on the device.
The offence was allegedly committed at the same place at 5.28pm on April 8.
The court then granted him bail of RM4,000 for each charge and set June 23 for mention.
The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor S.Thiviya, while the accused was represented by solicitor T C Lim.
