Melaka needs RM25 million to resolve street lighting problem
The amount is still a long way from solving the street lighting problem on state roads, as it does not include village roads.

MELAKA - The Melaka government needs about RM25 million to resolve the problem of street lights in the state.
State Public Works, Infrastructure, Public Facilities and Transport Committee chairman Datuk Hameed Mytheen Kunju Basheer said the allocation received this year was only RM3.5 million, involving RM3 million from the federal government and RM500,000 from the state government.
"The amount is still a long way from solving the street lighting problem on state roads, as it does not include village roads,” he told the State Assembly here today.
He was responding to a question by Tuminah Kadi@Mohd Hashim (BN-Pantai Kundor) on the allocation for street lighting.
Hameed said Melaka also received RM1.7 million under the Malaysian Road Records Information (Marris) for the installation of street lighting in village areas this year, with the Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah and Jasin districts to receive RM500,000 each and RM200,000 to the State Public Works Department. - BERNAMA
