SHAH ALAM - A 15-year-old boy narrowly escaped a terrifying kidnapping attempt while jogging in Section 13, Shah Alam, on Monday.

The incident occurred around 5.15pm.

Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the teen was jogging alone when a car with two unidentified men pulled up beside him.

One of the suspects exited the vehicle and threatened the boy with a knife, demanding that he get into the car.

Refusing to comply, the teenager fought off the attacker and fled to a nearby condominium guardhouse, where he sought immediate help.

“The victim sustained injuries to his right cheek and both arms during the struggle. He was later taken to a hospital for medical treatment,” Iqbal said in a statement.

Authorities are actively investigating the case under Section 363/511 of the Penal Code for attempted kidnapping and Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.

Police urged witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact criminal investigation officer Inspector Mohamad Sabri Abd Rani at 017-2892628.

The incident has raised concerns about safety in residential areas and highlights the need for increased community vigilance, especially during solo outdoor activities like jogging. - BERNAMA
