Blood Brothers smashes box office, Irfan's biggest role yet
The film’s success was marked with a grand celebration in Bukit Bintang on Wednesday night, attended by over 1,500 fans and the film’s cast.

KUALA LUMPUR - Actor Irfan Zaini has described his role in Blood Brothers: Bara Naga as the most significant moment of his 18-year career, as the Malaysian action blockbuster crosses RM62 million in box office earnings within just 20 days.
The film’s success was marked with a grand celebration in Bukit Bintang on Wednesday night, attended by over 1,500 fans and the film’s cast, including Irfan, Sharnaaz Ahmad, Syafiq Kyle, Shukri Yahaya, Syazwan Zulkifly and Zamarul Hisham.
"I’ve worked with big production teams before, but the reach, exposure, and fan response from Blood Brothers is unlike anything I’ve experienced.
"It’s the biggest highlight of my career so far," Irfan told Bernama during the Blood Brothers Fan Club special screening organised by Malaysia Ajith Fan Club, Vijay Fans Official Squad, and Malaysia Sivakarthikeyan Fan Club at GSC NU Sentral here on April 29.
Irfan, who began acting at age 12 with a minor role in the Kollywood film Kuruvi, said he only truly discovered his passion for acting after experiencing the audience's reaction in cinemas.
"There’s no other job in the world where strangers give you genuine love and care, without wanting anything in return. That connection is priceless," he said.
The actor underwent five months of rigorous physical training to prepare for action sequences in Blood Brothers, and he believes that commitment reflects his pride in representing Malaysia’s Tamil film talent on a national platform.
"Everyone around me had done action films before, but I gave extra because I didn’t want to feel inferior. Even when I got hurt, I knew it was worth it," he said.
Irfan also expressed hope for a more united local film identity.
"One day, I hope we won’t just speak of Tamil, Malay, or Chinese cinema, but Malaysian cinema-together," he added.
Produced by Datuk Yusof Haslam and co-directed by Syafiq Yusof and Abhilash Chandra, Blood Brothers: Bara Naga has emerged as one of Malaysia’s highest-grossing films, with plans underway for regional distribution in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Yusof said the overwhelming public support has been humbling and confirmed that a sequel, Blood Brothers Part 2: Perang Naga, is in development.
