Balance and decorum crucial in PKR Deputy President race – Nik Nazmi
Nik Nazmi urges caution amidst Nurul Izzah nomination buzz.

PUTRAJAYA – PKR vice president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has urged caution in the nomination of candidates for the deputy president position in the upcoming party election, stressing the importance of balance and decorum.
In a recent exclusive interview with Sinar, Nik Nazmi acknowledged the undeniable credibility and experience of former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar, but emphasised that any nominations should be made with the party’s best interests in mind.
“I believe no one can question Nurul Izzah’s credibility and capability. Her journey clearly reflects her steadfast principles.
“However, we must think holistically. Overzealousness, especially in opposition to a particular group, should not lead to actions that could harm the party’s image," he said.
The Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister further highlighted that any nomination should prioritise what is best for PKR, the president and the individual being nominated.
Nik Nazmi also highlighted PKR’s long history of supporting women’s leadership, citing the party’s role in producing Malaysia’s first female Opposition leader and Deputy Prime Minister.
“I believe everyone has the right to support candidates like Rafizi Ramli, Saifuddin Nasution, or Nurul Izzah for the deputy president post.
“But that support should never come at the expense of the party’s stability and image,” Nik Nazmi said.
