Woman jumped to death from van on Kesas Highway after argument, say police
The dispute arose over the use of the van, as the wife did not have a driving licence.
KUALA LUMPUR – Police have revealed that the woman who died along the Kesas Highway on Tuesday had jumped from the van she was travelling in.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed that investigations, based on statements from the woman's husband, revealed an argument between the couple prior to the incident.
The dispute arose over the use of the van, as the wife did not have a driving licence.
During the argument, the woman reportedly said she wanted to jump out and subsequently did so, with the husband continuing his journey.
The 50-year-old man was arrested at his home in Taman Kinrara, Puchong, Selangor, on the same day of the incident.
He is currently under a four-day remand until Saturday to assist in the investigations under Section 304A of the Penal Code.
The incident came to light when police received a report from a witness who claimed to have seen a woman being ejected from a van before it sped away from the scene on the Kesas Highway.
Upon arrival, authorities confirmed the death of the 44-year-old woman.
Following the witness report and initial investigation, the victim's husband was arrested around 6pm on Tuesday.
Authorities have also disclosed that the suspect, who works in air-conditioner delivery, has a prior criminal record and two previous drug-related offences.
