Car believed to be carrying family of six found submerged in Sungai Korok
The vehicle was detected at the bottom of the river.

JITRA – A sombre atmosphere filled the banks of Sungai Korok on Monday morning as a submerged car was discovered with several victims inside, all of whom have been pronounced dead.
Kedah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Zone 1 Chief Senior Fire Superintendent Ahmad Aminuddin Abd Rahim said the bodies consisted of one adult male, one adult female, three children and one infant.
He said the department received a call about the incident involving a car that had plunged into the river at 8.38am today.
“A Proton Iswara Sedan was found in the river with six victims inside - a man, a woman, three children and a baby.
“Recovery operations are currently underway and the identification process is being carried out by the victims’ next of kin,” he said in a statement today.
The extraction of the victims was carried out carefully and so far, several bodies have been successfully retrieved.
On Sunday, Sinar reported that a married couple and their four children, including a six-month-old baby, were reported missing after spending the night at a relative's house in Taman Aman, near here, since Saturday morning.

The disappearance of Mohd Azim Ezzat Ishak, 32, his wife Nurul Hidayah Khalijah Razman Effendy, 31 and their four children, aged between six months and nine years, was discovered when they failed to return to their home in Jerlun and could not be contacted.
Azim’s sister, Nur Adliah Shuhada, said her brother’s family had come to spend the night at her home, as they usually did on Fridays.
