Harimau Malaya to face Singapore at Bukit Jalil, Palestine in Iskandar Puteri

KUALA LUMPUR - The national men’s football squad will play two Tier 1 international friendlies at two different venues next month.  

According to a post on the official Malaysia NT Facebook page today, Harimau Malaya, under the guidance of Peter Cklamovski, will begin their friendlies campaign with the ‘Causeway Derby’ against Singapore on Sept 4 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil here, with kick-off at 9 pm.  

Malaysia will then host Palestine at the home ground of 11-time consecutive Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim, the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri, on Sept 8 with the match also kicking off at 9 pm.  

Both fixtures are important for Harimau Malaya in preparation for the third round of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers against Laos in October.  

Malaysia, currently ranked 125th in the world, will face Laos on Oct 9 and 14, followed by Nepal on Nov 18 in the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers, before concluding Group F action against Vietnam on March 31 next year.  

The national team currently lead the group with six points, followed by Vietnam and Laos with three points each, while Nepal (ranked 176th) are at the bottom without a point. - BERNAMA
