SHAH ALAM - Muslims across the country are invited to join the Malaysia #QuranHour 2025 programme at the National Mosque in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 30.

The annual programme, held in conjunction with National Day, aimed to unite families and communities in reading and reflecting upon the Quran both physically and online.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said the annual programme will also take place simultaneously in other states and online, which ensured participation even for those unable to attend in person.

“In conjunction with the nation’s independence, I call upon Muslims to join Malaysia #QuranHour 2025 on Aug 30.

“This programme is very meaningful because we invite entire families to read and understand the Quran, with Surah Ali ‘Imran, As-Saff and Al-Balad chosen as the selected chapters, guided by ‘qari’ (quran reciter) and ‘pentadabbur' (a person who contemplates on the Quran).

“May this gathering run smoothly and become a means for the country to be blessed with mercy, prosperity and peace through the Quran,” he said.

The 11th edition of Malaysia #QuranHour will be held simultaneously nationwide from noon to 1pm under the theme ‘Independence with Empathy.’

The programme is supported by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia in partnership with the Merdeka Secretariat, National Mosque, Selangor Public Library Corporation, Council of Public Library Directors, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Rumah Ngaji and Sahabah al-Quran within and outside Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) is the main broadcaster of the programme, supported by media partners including Sinar Harian, Astro Awani, Astro Oasis, TV AlHijrah, TV9, Bernama, Media Prima, IKIM FM, Zayan FM, TV IKIM, Denaihati Network, Nu Ideaktiv and Santai Travel.

According to RTM, the event will receive wide coverage through 34 radio stations, six television channels and its RTMKlik digital platform.

Several private television stations will also air the programme to attract wider participation.

“As a public broadcaster, RTM views its responsibility not only to broadcast this event but also to serve as a bridge for the message of the Quran to the people.

“Through live telecasts, special documentaries, scholarly discussions and news coverage, RTM strives to strengthen public understanding of the meaning and appreciation of the Quran in daily life.

“This approach is not only informative but also inspires society to ensure that the Quran continues to be a guiding light for all walks of life,” RTM said in a statement.

RTM also highlighted its expanded digital strategy to reach younger audiences, including live streaming on rtmklik.rtm.gov.my, as well as broadcasts via its official Facebook page and the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Facebook page.

“This strategy not only brings the Quran closer to young people but also nurtures them to make the Quran a way of life.

“At the same time, rural communities will still be able to follow the broadcast via TV1 and RTM radio, ensuring the Quran’s message reaches every corner of the nation,” RTM said.
