SHAH ALAM – Viral sensation D4vd, known for his hit songs “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” has been linked to a tragic case in Los Angeles after the body of a teenager was found in a car registered to him.
Authorities have since identified the case as a murder investigation.
The body of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas was discovered in the trunk of a Tesla at a tow yard in Hollywood on Sept 8.
She had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore in April.
According to police, employees at the tow yard reported a foul odor, which led to the discovery.
Her body was wrapped in a bag and showed signs of decomposition.
Investigators also stated a tattoo on Rivas’ right index finger that read “Shhh…” a design that matched a tattoo on D4vd’s finger.
However, the tattoo design was not uncommon, having been popularised by singer Rihanna in 2008 and later adopted by other celebrities.
Separately, Rivas’ mother told TMZ that her daughter had been dating someone named “David,” whom she had never met.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the vehicle had been parked in the Hollywood Hills for nearly a month before it was towed.
The car had not been reported stolen and investigators had yet to name a suspect or a person of interest.
Following the news, D4vd cancelled his Seattle performance on his “Withered” world tour.
His representatives told TMZ that they would not comment to avoid interfering with the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, brands that had collaborated with the singer began distancing themselves.
Crocs and Hollister, which had recently announced D4vd as the face of their campaigns, quietly dropped him by altering promotional photos to remove his likeness.
Despite his cooperation with investigators, the uncertainty surrounding Rivas’ death and the discovery of the car cast doubt on the future of D4vd’s tour.
