Israel launches airstrike on Khan Yunis despite ceasefire
Israeli occupation forces shelled the Al-Katiba area in central Khan Yunis with several artillery rounds, coinciding with the flight of drones over the city.

GAZA - Despite the declared ceasefire that went into effect after midnight, Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike at dawn on Friday on the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, the Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported.
A WAFA correspondent said Israeli occupation forces shelled the Al-Katiba area in central Khan Yunis with several artillery rounds, coinciding with the flight of drones over the city.
Israeli warplanes also launched a violent airstrike targeting the centre of Khan Yunis at dawn.
The Israeli occupation government officially approved the Gaza ceasefire agreement after midnight on Friday, thereby bringing it into force.
Earlier on Friday, Israeli occupation forces blew up the home of slain Palestinian Mohammad Taha in the town of Qatanna, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, at dawn.
A WAFA correspondent said a large Israeli military force stormed the town around midnight, surrounded Taha’s home, prevented residents and journalists from approaching, and evacuated nearby residential buildings in preparation for blowing it up. The home is an apartment in a residential building.
Shortly after midnight, Israeli forces began carrying out digging and bulldozing work on the walls of the home in preparation for its punitive demolition.
Eyewitnesses said Israeli occupation soldiers fired tear gas and rubber-coated metal bullets during the raid, causing several residents to suffer from suffocation.
Taha and Muthanna Amro were both killed by Israeli forces’ gunfire in occupied Jerusalem, following an alleged shooting attack on Sept 9.
US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night the conclusion of an agreement to implement the first phase of his plan to achieve peace in the Middle East, which stipulates ending the war in Gaza, the withdrawal of occupation forces, the entry of humanitarian aid, and the release of all Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces have waged a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of more than 67,000 civilians and the wounding of nearly 170,000 others, the majority of whom are children and women.
