SHAH ALAM – A shocking incident at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya saw a 14-year-old male student allegedly attack a 16-year-old girl with a knife inside a toilet after she allegedly rejected his romantic advances.
According to a student who witnessed the attack, the suspect had reportedly confessed his feelings to the victim the night before, but she turned him down as she did not share the same emotions.
The witness said the suspect was allegedly armed with several sharp weapons and cornered the girl inside the female toilet before launching the attack.
“He was holding a knife and had her hostage inside the toilet. Then he started stabbing her repeatedly,” the student, who wished to remain anonymous, told the New Straits Times.
The witness stated that the victim’s friend, who was nearby, immediately sought help from a discipline teacher.
“The teacher rushed to the toilet and tried to kick down the door. After several attempts, she managed to break it open, but the boy escaped and began chasing other students with the knife,” the witness recalled.
Chaos erupted as terrified students fled from classrooms, and the suspect allegedly ran into several Form One classes while still gripping the bloodstained knife.
The situation was finally brought under control when the suspect’s elder brother and several teachers managed to disarm and hold him back.
Based on the student's account, the attack was believed to have been triggered by the suspect’s emotional reaction to being rejected.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat confirmed that this was one of the possible motives under investigation.
He said the police were still investigating the case, including determining the actual motive for the attack.
