The quake occurred at 10.48pm local time (1948 GMT) at a depth of 5.99 kilometres (3.72 miles).

ISTANBUL - A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Sindirgi district in western Turkiye’s Balikesir province late Monday, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) quoted the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) as saying.
According to AFAD, the quake occurred at 10.48 pm local time (1948 GMT) at a depth of 5.99 kilometres (3.72 miles). It was felt in surrounding provinces, including Istanbul.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan extended his well wishes to those affected, saying AFAD and other relevant agencies were conducting field inspections and closely monitoring the situation.
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said on the local social media platform NSosyal that "AFAD and other relevant institutions have begun field inspections, and reports are being carefully reviewed.”
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya told AA that no casualties had been reported, though two individuals suffered minor injuries due to panic.
He said crews were working to restore electricity after power outages occurred in the area.
Yerlikaya added that three unused buildings and a two-storey shop, previously damaged in an earlier earthquake, had collapsed, stressing that no one was inside the structures. - BERNAMA
