Fatal shooting and cop injury: What actually happened in Klang's back-to-back petrol station incidents?
One involved a policeman who was injured during an attempted arrest, while the other was a fatal shooting.

SHAH ALAM – Two violent incidents at petrol stations in Klang within the span of a week have raised significant public concern.
One involved a policeman who was injured during an attempted arrest, while the other was a fatal shooting.
Both cases spread quickly online, contributing to confusion as early claims and circulating clips had offered conflicting impressions.

The rapid spread of these videos intensified public anxiety about safety, crime and policing in the district.
As the footage of the shooting and the chaotic arrest attempt gained traction, questions had emerged over what actually had happened and how authorities were handling both situations.
A Viral Video and Emerging Claims
A one-minute-17-second video recorded by a bystander on Nov 12 began circulating widely, with captions claiming a “shooting” had taken place at a petrol station in Klang.
The clip showed a white vehicle, believed to be the suspect’s getaway car, speeding off while another car attempted to block it.
A man was seen injured on the ground as members of the public rushed to help him.
An analysis of the footage also revealed that a man who fell from one of the cars appeared to be holding a gun, visible only for a few frames.
Around the 1:13 mark, the bystander filming bent down and picked up a metallic object, believed to be a bullet casing and handed it to the injured man.
At the start of the clip, around the 26-second mark, a man was seen tumbling out of a black Honda Civic, moments before the white Toyota was rammed.
A text overlay stated: “Two cars collided at a petrol station, shooting suspected.”
Despite the claims, no gunshots were visible in the video.
Police Clarified What Really Happened
The next day, on Nov 13, South Klang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa released a statement explaining that the incident had not stemmed from a shootout but from an attempted arrest linked to a robbery case.
He said the incident had unfolded at about 2.30pm on Wednesday at a petrol station along Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, when policemen approached a white Toyota Vios suspected of being involved in a robbery in Subang Jaya.
“When the arrest was about to be made, the suspect acted aggressively by pushing a police personnel and fleeing in his car.
“During the incident, the suspect’s car hit and almost ran over the policeman’s leg before crashing into the police vehicle. The suspect then drove against traffic onto the main road heading towards Shah Alam,” he said.
The suspect later abandoned the car at Persiaran Sultan Ibrahim and escaped on foot. Ramli confirmed that the officer had suffered injuries in the incident.

Police subsequently arrested a 33-year-old local man at 12.45 am on Nov 13 in Bandar Bukit Tinggi. Ramli also said the suspect had a lengthy criminal history.
“The suspect, who had 20 previous criminal records and five past drug offences, was being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties and Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder,” he said.
Investigations were ongoing to determine his involvement in other crimes.
Public Reaction as Video Fuelled Confusion
Before the police statement was issued, the viral clip had led many to believe another petrol station shooting had taken place.
The video showed the injured officer on the ground, members of the public assisting him and the suspect’s Toyota Vios fleeing the scene, all of which contributed to widespread speculation online.
Because the event had unfolded just days after a real shooting at another petrol station in Klang, public anxiety had surged.
The First Incident: A Fatal Shooting in Bukit Tinggi
Just five days earlier, on Nov 7, Klang was shocked by a real fatal shooting at a petrol station in Bukit Tinggi, located only five kilometres from the second violent incident at Persiaran Raja Muda Musa.
The attack occurred at about 11.13pm, when a 34-year-old man was gunned down by two men on a motorcycle.
A viral video showed the victim standing beside a car when the pillion rider fired multiple shots.
A woman who had been with the victim moments earlier was unharmed and was seen tending to him after the attack.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed the victim had a serious criminal background.
“The police were conducting thorough checks on the victim’s background, including links to organised crime groups,” he said.
He also stated that the man had been wanted by authorities and had previous records, including detention under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
Why These Two Incidents Had Heightened Public Concern
The back-to-back episodes, one a fatal shooting and the other a violent escape attempt during a robbery arrest, had intensified fears about crime in Klang, especially given that both played out at petrol stations, locations typically considered safe public spaces.
The rapid spread of videos, incomplete early information and the appearance of a gun in the second incident’s footage only amplified public worry until police provided clarification.
Where the Investigation Stood
Police had confirmed:
- The Nov 12 incident was not a shootout, but an arrest that had turned violent.
- A suspect had been detained and faced charges including attempted murder.
- The officer who was knocked down was receiving treatment.
- The Nov 7 Bukit Tinggi case remained under investigation for possible gang links.
Authorities are expected to release further updates as both cases progressed.
