KOTA KINABALU – The victory of Datuk Dr Aliakbar Gulasan in the Karambunai state assembly seat is expected to lay a strong foundation for Pas in Sabah in the future.
Pas Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party’s first win in Sabah carries significant meaning for its political struggle.
At the same time, he expressed immense gratitude to the voters as well as the Pas and Perikatan Nasional (Pas-PN) machinery, who worked tirelessly to secure Aliakbar’s victory.
“To Aliakbar, this is a trust given by the voters of Karambunai, and based on past experience, we are confident he can carry out his duties effectively.
“Let us all work together to uphold Aliakbar’s role as our representative, and, God willing, may Allah ease his tasks and responsibilities as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Karambunai,” he said.
Tuan Ibrahim made these remarks in a video post uploaded on his Facebook page following a press conference here on Saturday.
Aliakbar, who is also the Pas Sabah Commissioner, contested under the PN ticket and won the Karambunai seat with a majority of 371 votes.
The win marks a historic first for Pas, as it secured a state assembly seat in the 2025 Sabah state election for the first time, and East Malaysia overall.
The Karambunai seat saw an 11-cornered contest, with 39,247 registered voters.
