Sukri also highlighted that Pas has never infringed upon Sabah’s rights, including the state’s ‘40 per cent rights’, which remain untouched by the party.

SHAH ALAM - Selangor Pas Youth has backed Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s claim that anti-Pas sentiment in Sabah is misplaced, emphasising that previous local leaders, not Pas, were responsible for past political mismanagement and corruption in the state.

Speaking at a media conference at the Selangor Pas Youth Office yesterday, Selangor Pas Youth Chief Mohamed Sukri Omar reaffirmed that Pas members have been actively assisting PN in Sabah ahead of the 17th Sabah State Election.

“So far, Pas members in Selangor have been actively going to Sabah to support the upcoming Sabah State Election, even before the dissolution of the assembly. Their involvement is part of a broader effort to support PN as a whole, not just Pas.

“This means that for seats contested by Bersatu, Pas members assist and for seats contested by Pas, Bersatu members lend their support, reflecting true joint operations within PN.

“PN Chairman’s statement is accurate, Pas has not harmed Sabah and there is no reason for anti-Pas sentiment. Past issues of power misuse and corruption in Sabah were the responsibility of former local leaders and it is fitting that the people of Sabah seek change by supporting PN.

“The population has experienced various political phases and there is confidence in their wisdom,” he said.

“This commitment is reflected in the leadership of Datuk Dr Aliakbar Gulasan (PN Sabah Deputy Chairman, Pas Sabah Commissioner,9 and candidate for the Karambunai state seat) whose dedication and charisma have earned broad acceptance among Sabahans.

“Through Dr Ali, the people can see what Pas represents within PN,” he added.

On Nov 11, Muhyiddin dismissed concerns that anti-Pas sentiment could affect PN’s performance in the Sabah election.

He highlighted that all candidates, including Pas representatives, would contest under the PN banner and emphasised the coalition’s team-oriented approach.

PN will contest 41 out of 73 state seats, with Pas contesting five, alongside candidates from Bersatu and Parti Gerakan Malaysia.

Muhyiddin said that 90 per cent of the candidates were new faces, 30 per cent were youths and five were women, all screened for competence.

Key candidates included Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee in Sugut, Sabah Gerakan Chief William Ooi in Luyang and Aliakbar in Karambunai.

Muhyiddin added that PN’s priorities, if it forms the next state government, would include safeguarding Sabah’s constitutional rights and advancing infrastructure development.

He also highlighted that candidate placements were carefully considered, even in seats previously held by senior GRS leaders.
