Pas does not make random decisions; every move is carefully considered, says Mazri
Pas recognised that not every decision will please everyone, but true courage in politics is the willingness to bear risks for the sake of principles.

SHAH ALAM – Every political decision made by Pas is not speculative or based on short-term calculations, but is made through thorough analysis of risks and long-term implications.
Pas Central Working Committee member Dr Mohd Mazri Yahya said Pas was not a party that 'plays dice' when determining its political direction. Instead, it acted based on principles, experience and considerations of the community’s interests.
He noted that the experience of forming Muafakat Nasional (MN) and later Perikatan Nasional (PN) proved that the party, led by Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang always considered the impact of decisions on the overall Malay-Islamic political landscape.
“At that time, Pas faced an ultimatum. Either join Umno without Bersatu, or build a large coalition encompassing all Malay parties, including Umno and Bersatu.
“Pas chose the path of not leaving anyone behind. Umno, on the other hand, took the risk of not joining PN. The political outcomes have unfolded as we see today.
“It is important to understand that no party is simply ‘wrong’ because each of them made a choice and every choice has its costs,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday.
He said this amid the political crisis in Perlis following allegations that several assemblymen from Pas and Bersatu submitted statutory declarations (SDs) to the Raja of Perlis, stating that they no longer supported Mohd Shukri Ramli as Perlis Menteri Besar.
Following this, three Pas assemblymen, Saad Seman (Chuping), Fakhrul Anwar Ismail (Bintong) and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim (Guar Sanji) were dismissed from the party.
Commenting on the political turmoil in the state, Mazri emphasised that Pas' action was not about the state alone but concerned the sentiments of members nationwide.
“Pas knows a bitter but true fact. Many members are more comfortable with MN than PN. If this dissatisfaction is left unchecked, the explosion would not be limited to Perlis but could affect the whole country.
“Thus, Pas chose the risk of extinguishing the fire before it spreads, for the long-term stability of the party and coalition partners, something that some Pas leaders in Perlis failed to understand,” he said.
Mazri added that Pas recognised that not every decision will please everyone, but true courage in politics is the willingness to bear risks for the sake of principles.
“Sometimes decisions do not make everyone happy. That is normal. But one consistent thing from the past until now is that when Pas makes a decision, the risks are not ignored; they are consciously accepted.
“In politics, true courage is not only about standing up to the enemy but also about bearing risks for principles and the unity of the party,” he said.
