Three-year-old boy dies in fire that destroyed three homes

The victim was found in the master bedroom at 4.15am

BANTING - A three-year-old boy was found charred after becoming trapped in a fire that destroyed three houses along Jalan Nuri, Kampung Seri Cheeding here early Friday morning.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said his department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.44am.

“Seventeen officers and firefighters, along with fire engines from the Teluk Panglima Garang Fire and Rescue Station, with assistance from the Banting and KLIA fire stations, were dispatched to the scene, located about 11 kilometres away,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He said firefighters arrived at the scene 12 minutes later and found the blaze involved three Class B residential units.

“Each house was almost 90 per cent destroyed by the fire and initial information indicated that a child was trapped inside one of the burning houses,” he said.

Firefighters carried out extinguishing operations and managed to bring the fire under control at about 3.30am.
