Man left bedridden after stroke, found living alone in filthy conditions
The room was soiled with waste and rubbish.

PASIR MAS – A man who suffered a stroke two years ago has been living alone while bedridden at his home in Kampung Bunut Susu here.
Samsudin Mohamed, 60, has been living by himself for the past three years following his divorce from his wife.
The former welder is said to have four children aged between seven and 25, all of whom are living with his former wife.
Samsudin drew public attention after a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Pertubuhan Jejak Jalanan, led by Abe Hae, whose real name is Mohd Azhan Mohd Adnan, visited his home on Sunday.
He was found bedridden and living in unhygienic conditions, with the room soiled with waste and rubbish, prompting widespread public concern and sympathy.
According to Bunut Susu village head, Abdul Rahim Abbas, Samsudin lived alone in his own house after the divorce and suffered a stroke about a year later.
He said the man has four brothers, only one of whom lives in Kelantan, while the others reside outside the state.
“His siblings do visit him, but as they live far away, they usually come only during festive seasons or public holidays.
“Previously, Samsudin was cared for by a male caregiver hired at a cost of RM500 per month. The caregiver stopped working in October last year to seek more stable employment,” he said when contacted.
Since then, Samsudin’s condition and living situation have deteriorated.
Rahim said, however, that Samsudin receives monthly assistance of RM500 from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
He added that Samsudin also receives aid from the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council.
He said that in June last year, JKM had brought Samsudin to Dungun, Terengganu, to be placed in a welfare home, but he was later returned home after it was discovered that he had Hepatitis B.
“Since he suffered the stroke, neighbours have helped care for him by providing food and other assistance.
“We are doing our best to ensure that Samsudin receives the care and support he deserves,” he said.
