Viral traffic maps reveal massive ‘red zone’ across entire Klang Valley
One widely shared post featured a traffic map indicating that the majority of arterial routes in the capital were experiencing severe gridlock, marked prominently in red.

KUALA LUMPUR – Social media users have been sharing posts highlighting unusually heavy traffic congestion across several major roads in the Klang Valley, particularly within Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding urban hubs, on Wednesday.
One widely shared post featured a traffic map indicating that the majority of arterial routes in the capital were experiencing severe gridlock, marked prominently in red.
According to the map, heavy congestion was visible along most central Kuala Lumpur routes, including major road networks linking key business districts and residential areas.
Widespread delays across the valley
Traffic reports indicated significant delays on routes heading towards Ampang, with slow-moving traffic observed both entering and exiting the city centre.
In Kuala Lumpur, congestion was detected along corridors connecting Kelana Jaya to the city, while similar bottlenecks were seen across Subang Jaya—a vital link for motorists travelling between Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur.
The shared data further revealed:
- Puchong: Significant congestion on roads linking the township to major highways.
- Batu Caves: Heavy traffic at one of the primary northern entry points into the city.
- Wangsa Maju: Slow-moving traffic on alternative routes often used to bypass main highways.
- Mont Kiara: Heightened congestion on main roads serving residential and commercial zones.
- Seri Kembangan: Visible delays across south-eastern Klang Valley routes.
Public reaction and search for answers
The post triggered a wave of reactions from netizens, many of whom stated that such widespread, simultaneous congestion across almost every major route is a rare occurrence.
Some users reported that they experienced longer-than-usual delays even while travelling by motorcycle, a mode of transport typically used to navigate through jams.
While many believe the surge in vehicles during peak hours contributed to the standstill, no official statement has been issued by the authorities as yet regarding the specific cause of the unusual congestion that has since gone viral.
