Amanah Youth backs temporary leave for Azam Baki pending probe
The position was not personal but rooted in the principles of good governance.

SHAH ALAM – The Youth wing of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has backed calls for Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki to be temporarily relieved of his duties while investigations into the allegations against him are carried out independently, transparently and thoroughly.
Amanah Youth deputy chief Danial Al Rashid Haron said the position was not personal but rooted in the principles of good governance and the need to safeguard the integrity of national enforcement institutions.
He said as MACC chief commissioner, any controversy that raises public concern must be addressed professionally and prudently to avoid perceptions of conflict of interest.

"Amanah Youth is of the view that granting temporary leave is a mature administrative step, not a form of punishment.
"Rather, it allows space for the investigation to proceed without interference and helps preserve public confidence in the nation’s anti-corruption institution," he said in a statement on Monday.
Danial stressed that the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" must be upheld.
However, he added that institutional integrity and credibility must remain the priority in the interest of the country.
He said Malaysia needs institutions that command public trust, which can only be strengthened through transparency and accountability.
In this regard, he said Amanah Youth remains committed to upholding the principles of integrity, accountability and good governance for the nation’s future.
