Pas to take over Opposition Leader post, candidate to be decided later – Takiyuddin
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the matter had been agreed upon by the coalition’s Supreme Council.

KUALA LUMPUR – Pas is expected to take over the position of Opposition Leader in the Dewan Rakyat following the expulsion of Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the matter had been agreed upon by the coalition’s extraordinary Supreme Council.
However, he said further details, including the choice of a Member of Parliament to fill the position, would be discussed in a future meeting.
“It has been decided that some time should be given before appointing the new Opposition Leader,” he said at a press conference after the meeting at the Pas Central Office here today.
Sinar Daily previously reported that Bersatu’s Disciplinary Board expelled Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin with effect from Friday.
The decision was made against the Bersatu Deputy President following a disciplinary hearing held on Thursday, after he was found to have violated Clause 9.1.4 of the party’s constitution.
Meanwhile, when asked whether the internal turmoil currently affecting Bersatu would have an impact on PN’s component parties, Takiyuddin stressed that Pas would not interfere in the internal affairs of other parties.
“Let the party involved manage the matter. That (the internal party crisis) has nothing to do with us. We do not take it seriously,” he said.
