BEIRUT - An 11-year-old girl has been fatally injured by falling debris in Kuwait, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

Attempts by emergency services to revive her were unsuccessful, the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the girl was pronounced dead shortly afterwards in a hospital in Kuwait City.

The ministry did not provide any details about the type of debris that struck the girl.

There have recently been several incidents involving falling debris in the country due to the air defence system shooting down Iranian drones and missiles.

Early on Wednesday, for example, the Ministry of Defence stated that air defences had shot down enemy targets in Kuwaiti airspace. Falling debris had caused damage and injuries. No further details were provided.

The United States (US) and Israel launched a large-scale offensive against Iran on Saturday, sparking a regional escalation as Tehran fired missiles at US bases in several Gulf states. - BERNAMA-dpa
