SHAH ALAM – Police are tracking down two men believed to be involved in an armed robbery at an apartment in Section 13 yesterday.

District police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said the incident, which later went viral on social media, occurred at about 1pm on March 5.

He said police received a report from the victim, a man in his 20s, on the same day.

“Initial investigations found that the victim was alone at home when two unknown men came to the house. One of the suspects was carrying a weapon believed to be a machete,” he said in a statement.

It is understood that the victim’s front door was unlocked at the time of the incident.

The suspects allegedly robbed the victim of several belongings, including a wallet containing cash, a laptop, a mobile phone, as well as the victim’s house and car keys.

Ramsay said the suspects then forced the victim into his own car and drove him to a nearby ATM to withdraw additional cash from his bank account.

However, while at the ATM, the victim noticed members of the public nearby and shouted for help.

“The suspects then fled the scene using the victim’s car,” he said.

A post about the incident and the missing white Subaru Forester has since circulated on social media, with members of the public questioning how the armed intruders were able to bypass the apartment security.

Police are currently carrying out efforts to locate and arrest the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery with a weapon, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

Members of the public with information related to the incident are urged to contact the investigating officer, Insp Muhammad Naqiuddin Nawawi, at 012-3848103 to assist in the investigation.
