CIMB OCTOFest brings Ramadan–Raya spirit to life with culture, community and commerce

KUALA LUMPUR – CIMB OCTOFest is bringing together commerce, culture and community in a festive Ramadan–Raya celebration at MyTOWN Shopping Centre, creating a vibrant platform for businesses and the public to connect.
The three-day event, held from March 6 to March 8, was organised in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, reflecting CIMB Bank Berhad’s commitment to advancing customers and society through meaningful engagement.
CIMB Group chief brand and marketing officer Toni Darusman said the initiative was designed to bring communities together while preserving traditions associated with the Ramadan–Raya season.
"With CIMB OCTOFest, our goal is simple, to bring people together, share blessings and celebrate the spirit of the season. That is why our theme this year, "Semua Lebih Hebat dengan CIMB", highlights how every moment becomes more meaningful when we experience it together," he said.
He highlighted that Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri represent a significant period of connection and compassion for both families and businesses.
Toni added that the initiative was guided by CIMB’s "Kita Bagi Jadi" spirit, which aims to ensure cultural traditions remain relevant while also creating economic opportunities for entrepreneurs.
"From digital enablement and exclusive festive deals to community outreach, CIMB is here to make what truly matters a Big Deal," he added.
He also said the festival served as a platform for micro, small and medium enterprises to introduce their products while encouraging wider adoption of digital payment solutions through CIMB OCTO and CIMB OCTO Biz.
Toni said the bank organised CIMB OCTOFest to provide an opportunity for customers, communities and small businesses to gather and celebrate the Ramadan season together.
He stressed that the event aimed to create a shared space where the public, including micro and small entrepreneurs, could enjoy the festive atmosphere while preparing for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Toni added that the bank hoped the platform would encourage greater participation from entrepreneurs and the public while highlighting the importance of togetherness during the Ramadan–Raya period.
Visitors were able to enjoy a variety of cultural activities and entertainment throughout the festival, including batik tie-dye workshops, sand art sessions, karaoke performances and traditional games such as the Big Congkak Challenge and Giant Batu Seremban.
Participants also received duit raya giveaways from Good Foodie Media chief executive officer Nicholas Lim Pinn Yang, adding to the festive spirit and excitement among attendees.

The event also featured live performances by singer Bella Astillah and CIMB Rising Star talents Scha Nuril and Firdaus, alongside appearances by professional golfer Ervin Chang and motorsports athlete Amer Harris Jefry.
Pinn Yang also participated in the event and shared that preparing bubur lambuk for the first time was a meaningful experience that reflected the spirit of Ramadan.
"This initiative is actually the first time I have made bubur lambuk. I have never seen how bubur lambuk is prepared before, so this was my first time doing it. I am very happy to be able to do this together with CIMB.
"I started Foodie to help SMEs. We have supported many SMEs. So it is very exciting to see many partners coming together. Today, continuing the tradition of preparing bubur lambuk is very meaningful," he said.

He added that the experience was particularly special as it connected tradition with community engagement.
"Usually I would only watch videos of this on Foodie. This is the first time I have done it myself at a mosque and now here at MyTOWN KL. It is very meaningful to continue this tradition together with great colleagues today," he added.
Beyond the festivities, CIMB OCTOFest also served as a platform to encourage digital payment adoption among vendors and visitors through QR transactions using CIMB OCTO and CIMB OCTO Biz.
Customers who made purchases using QR payments received exclusive merchandise, while entrepreneurs benefited from improved transaction efficiency and greater visibility during the festive season.
