After losing wife, man raises her sisters like his own children for 21 years
Syazana said their lives changed after they lost their parents at a young age.
THE sacrifice of a man from Johor Bahru who raised his sisters-in-law as if they were his own children proves that love in a family is not always bound by blood relations.
For Syazana Ta’at, 43, Mohd Puad Basri @ Hassan, 62, is not just a brother-in-law, but an important figure who cared for and raised them.
She said although her sister, Khirina, passed away 21 years ago, the man stayed with them and continued to take care of the family.
"My brother-in-law covered our schooling expenses. Every time my younger siblings went to and returned from the hostel, he was the one who sent and picked them up.
"During Hari Raya, he would prepare new clothes for all of us sisters," she told Sinar.
Earlier, a video about Puad’s sacrifices shared by Syazana on TikTok garnered 433,900 views and 41,000 likes.

Syazana said their lives changed after they lost their parents at a young age.
Their father, Ta’at Rahmat, passed away on Sept 3, 1993, while their mother, Aisah Mosaba, died on Nov 28, 1994.
"Since then, my brother-in-law became the person we relied on," she said.
She added that her brother-in-law married their sister in 1990, before her sister passed away in 2005.

"Even though my sister has been gone for a long time, my brother-in-law is still with us to this day," she said.
Syazana said while raising them, her brother-in-law only worked as a clerk at a law firm, earning about RM400 a month.
She added that he also raised four of his own children, along with four sisters-in-law, after losing his wife.
"Even though he carried such a huge responsibility, he never showed that he was tired. He never raised his voice in anger and never once reminded us of what he had done for us," she said.

Syazana said her brother-in-law was also a very humble person and did not like his sacrifices to be known by the public.
She added that he always held on to the principle that the good he did only needed to be known by himself and that only Allah SWT should know the sacrifices he made for them.

Syazana shared that her brother-in-law’s home has now become the gathering place for the whole family, especially during weekends and festive seasons.
She said the house feels like their parents’ home, as all the siblings gather there as if returning to their own family home.
"So for me, family ties are not about names, not about blood, not about feelings, but about love and responsibility," she said.
