Bali tops list of world’s best honeymoon destinations for 2026, overtaking Mauritius
The island has long been a favourite among newlyweds, attracting couples with its private pool villas, sunset beach views, relaxing spa retreats and rich cultural heritage.
SHAH ALAM - Bali, Indonesia has been named the world’s best honeymoon destination in the 2026 Travelers’ Choice Awards: Best of the Best Destinations by Tripadvisor, overtaking Mauritius which held the top spot last year.
According to Vietnamese online newspaper VNExpress, Bali secured the number one position in the latest ranking, while Mauritius dropped to second place.
Tripadvisor described Bali as "a living postcard, an Indonesian paradise that feels like a fantasy," highlighting the island’s scenic landscapes, picturesque beaches and vibrant culture.
The island has long been a favourite among newlyweds, attracting couples with its private pool villas, sunset beach views, relaxing spa retreats and rich cultural heritage.
Bali is also known for its historic temples, traditional arts and lush tropical surroundings, offering visitors a mix of romance and adventure.
Following Bali and Mauritius, Maldives ranked third on the list, while St. Lucia and Galle rounded out the top five.
The list also featured Vietnam's Hue, known for its royal tombs and historical landmarks.
Tripadvisor said the 2026 Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations rankings were based on the quality and quantity of reviews submitted by travellers worldwide for accommodations, restaurants and activities between Oct 1, 2024 and Sept 30, 2025.
The annual awards highlighted travellers’ favourite destinations globally, helping visitors discover popular locations and plan memorable trips.
